Image Use Policy for the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators

The artwork featured on this site represents the creative and scientific expertise of our members. These images are protected by copyright and may not be reused without permission. We invite you to honor and support the artists who bring science to life through their visual storytelling.

Section 1: Artist Copyright and Ownership

If you are interested in reusing or reproducing any image, you must contact the artist directly to obtain written permission. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of these images is strictly prohibited.

The images on this site are created by working artists who make all or part of their living from the artwork they produce. Unless specifically noted, all images are the property of their creator and are protected under U.S. and international copyright law.

Section 2: How to Request Permission

We encourage those who wish to license artwork, request reproduction rights, or collaborate with an illustrator to reach out directly to the artist.

We make every effort to credit the artists whose images appear on our website and to link to their personal websites whenever possible.

If you are unsure how to reach an artist, please contact our Membership Director and we will do our best to connect you.

Section 3: Supporting Artists and Ethical Image Use

GNSI members are professional visual science communicators whose work supports education, research, and public understanding of science. By respecting copyright and seeking permission before use, you help ensure that these artists can continue producing the high-quality imagery that benefits our shared understanding of the natural world.

Thank you for supporting these immensely talented and passionate creators.
