Supporting GNSI

For over 50 years, the GNSI has been a leader in the science illustration community, connecting professionals who promote, teach, and celebrate the visual communication of science. Now, more than ever, supporting clear and accessible science communication is vital to cementing the public's trust in science and the scientific method. Please consider supporting our organization as we support the visual creatives carrying out this critical goal.

Donations to our operating fund support:

  • The publication and distribution of the Journal of Natural Science Illustration
  • An annual conference where leaders in the field exchange insights and ideas, teach workshops, and mentor the next generation of visual science communicators
  • Development of a summer Education Series that brings science illustration workshops around the country
  • The creation and facilitation of local GNSI chapters that run exhibits, events and meet-ups throughout the year in ten regions in the US
  • Development of new online resources and events designed respond to the evolving landscape dictated by the pandemic

We have several scholarships and grants designed to help students and historically underrepresented groups in STEM enter and succeed in our field. If you would like to earmark a donation for one of these funds, please contact [email protected] after making your donation to let us know it is intended for one of these specific funds and not our operating budget.

As a registered 501(c)(3) organization, your donations are fully tax deductible. In addition, as part of the stimulus bill to ease hardship during the pandemic, the 2020 tax return will allow taxpayers to claim up to $300 in charitable contributions in an "above-the-line" deduction without itemizing.
