The Special Projects Award was given jointly to Gail Guth and Britt Griswold in 2018 for their work rebooting the Journal of Natural Science Illustration via the GNSI website.
In 2008, Gail (GNSI President) and Britt (GNSI Vice-President) worked together to further develop the GNSI website and elevate the Journal of Natural Science Illustration (JNSI) to a regularly scheduled publication that could be accessed by members via the GNSI website. These two projects together created made the robust and impactful JNSI publication what it is today and paved the way for GNSI's online presence. Gail and Britt continue to contribute as core editorial staff of the Journal and have helped set a high standard that serves as constant inspiration.
Britt also received the Distinguished Service Award in 1994, the first year it was awarded, as well as the Special Projects Award in 2009 for the creation of Science-Art.com. Gail received the Distinguished Service Award in 2009. Both have been members of GNSI for several decades.

Artist by-lines are too often buried or completely overlooked. Yet the expertise and mastery our community of visual science communicators bring to the table is unsurpassed. The images we use on our website come from our Juried Members' Exhibits over the years, as judged by a panel of experts. We name them wherever possible below each image to celebrate their excellent work and to set an example for everyone to remember that these images don't create themselves. Please visit their websites and support their work.
