Diana Marques received the Special Projects Award in 2018 for her role in developing a strategic plan to use social media as a way to engage people with GNSI conferences. Her work ultimately reinforced the sense of community amongst GNSI members, gave non-members an opportunity to follow GNSI work remotely, and produced assets such as videos, photographs and written content that perpetuate and disseminate the value of GNSI events. Diana defined and improved the role of the GNSI Social Media Coordinator and ultimately informed, educated, and amused hundreds of GNSI followers amongst various social media platforms.
Diana has been a member of the Guild since 1999 and served on the GNSI Board of Directors as Membership Director and Outreach Director.
Award presented by President Linda Feltner
Artist by-lines are too often buried or completely overlooked. Yet the expertise and mastery our community of visual science communicators bring to the table is unsurpassed. The images we use on our website come from our Juried Members' Exhibits over the years, as judged by a panel of experts. We name them wherever possible below each image to celebrate their excellent work and to set an example for everyone to remember that these images don't create themselves. Please visit their websites and support their work.
