The New England Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators held an exhibition of work entitled " A Closer Look: Guild of Natural Science Illustrators New England chapter recent works" at the South Shore Nature Center, Norwell, Massachusetts.
Clare Walker Leslie gave a pre-reception workshop on drawing birds. Tricia Cassady led a walk featuring vernal pools, and a looping computer program educating the public about the need for them. Nancy Minnigerode demonstrated scratchboard, Frances Topping showed us watercolor, Marybeth Hanley enlightened the group on dissecting and illustrating algae, and Clare Walker Leslie explained nature journaling.
The public was invited to a reception with refreshments provided by the artists and the exhibit was open during Nature Center hours till November 26th, 2012. We feel it is important to bring our work to the public to make them aware of the Guild, of the field of Natural Science Illustration, and the educational value of viewing the artwork of a nature theme with its accompanying information.
