>2012 Conference In Review

"Inspirational and educational talks by current scientific and creative forces in the publishing and entertainment world popped up throughout the program: Avatar botany specialist, National Geographic journalist and art director, scientific illustrator and creature designer for Lucasfilm. And these were just a few of the highlights among a cast of many new presentations and presenters. In a nutshell, this year’s program (talks and workshops) were top notch and entirely new – a direction I would like to see the GNSI Conference continue into the future!" - Marjorie Leggitt

"I just returned from a wonderful conference in Savannah, Georgia, put on by the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) in conjunction with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and learn about different aspects of natural science illustration. It’s a wide field, covering all aspects of biology, paleontology, botany, geology, museum murals, magazine and textbook illustrations, signage, children’s books, and much more. One thing we all have in common is a love of nature and drawing. I always walk away with ways to improve my artwork as well as grow my business....I was able to sketch on some of these trips as well as take some pictures…see them at this link- - Karen Johnson

"There has never been a GNSI conference I've regretted attending. Wonderful people, inspiring art, presentations, workshops and fieldtrips plus often a new area of the country I hadn't visited before. We may not have ghosts or bald cypress swamps in Bar Harbor, but from our last two experiences at COA (College of the Atlantic), 2013 promises to be yet another worthwhile conference. Especially if you are all there! I send my thanks also to SCAD, Kristie, Heather, Cat and EVERYONE involved, from the organizing committee to the presenters and attendees." - Gretchen Halpert

"It was great seeing everyone at the GNSI conference in Savannah last week! Hope y'all got home safe and sound! See you in Bar Harbor next year!! One of my favorite places with many of my favorite people - doesn't get any better than that!" - Virge Kask
