Biography / Resume:
I have a Ph.D. in Ecology from University of California, Davis and I taught in the Environmental Studies Department at Emory University for 10 years. However, I came to realize that my passion for nature is best expressed through artwork, through experience and perception. To further my art skills, I completed a certificate in botanical drawing from the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, as well as training from the nationally acclaimed Program in Natural Science Illustration at the University of California, Santa Cruz. My primary interests are in botanical illustration (my husband is a plant taxonomist) and in marine invertebrates. I am also very interested in the use of visual representation as a means of testing mental models in science.
