Sharon Birzer is a Natural Science Illustrator whose work is inspired by observations made in the diverse ecosystems of Puget Sound, Eastern Washington, and Southern Africa. She works in traditional media including watercolors, woodblock printing, pen and ink as well as Photoshop. She's worked with Curators at the Burke Museum of Natural History on arachnid illustrations.Working directly with curators at the Seattle Art Museum she created illustrations and custom maps that are permanently part of the Museumʼs signage. Her illustrations have been included in books and publications. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Northwest and around the country. Birzer holds a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts, an MFA from the University of Washington, and graduated from the Natural Science Illustration Program at the UW.
