Patricia received a dual degree in Scientific Art and Biology from Washington University, and her M.F.A. in Medical and Biological Illustration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She’s taught numerous undergrad and graduate level classes at the University of Michigan, and Washtenaw Community College.
Before founding ScientificIllustrators.org, she spent 4 years at the acclaimed Children’s Hands-On Museum in Ann Arbor as an Exhibit Artist, and 4 years at the University of Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens as their in-house Illustrator and Graphic Designer. She’s also owner of FerrerBeals–Biomedical Illustration, focusing on surgical, medical-legal, and anatomy illustration, as well as branding and graphic design.
When she’s not illustrating biomedical artwork for encyclopedias, exhibit kiosks, surgical texts, or children’s books, she’s enjoying baking and gardening with her two daughters.
