Member Bio.:

Bobbi Angell has worked in pen and ink since 1978, illustrating plants for botanists around the world. While much of her work is done from herbarium specimens at The New York Botanical Garden, tropical field work and extensive gardening at her home in Vermont contribute to her diverse knowledge of plants and enhance her depictions. Her award winning illustrations have been published in Flowering Plants of the Neotropics; Vascular Plants of Central French Guiana; Vines and Climbing Plants of Puerto Rico, and Intermountain Flora. In addition to her scientific work, Bobbi drew horticultural subjects for The New York Times garden column for many years, and illustrated Our Life in Gardens and the forthcoming To Eat. John Scheepers Kitchen Garden Seeds and Van Engelen Bulbs feature her artwork. She was the 2006 recipient of Jill Smythies Award from the Linnean Society of London and ASBA Award for Excellence in the Service of Science. Bobbi’s copper plate etchings reflect her interest in fine detail and have allowed a satisfying and natural extension of her compositional style. Her graceful designs are drawn onto a ground on a copper plate, etched with acid, and hand printed in limited editions
