GUILD OF NATURAL SCIENCE ILLUSTRATORS, Inc.

GNSI Oregon Group

Statement

Scientific illustrators in Oregon have been meeting informally in the Eugene area since 1998 when Scylla Earls invited all of those whom she knew to gather at her Springfield home for snacks and conversation. Meetings have evolved to include a speaker, portfolio sharing, and pot luck lunch. The "membership" list in 2003 contains over 50 people. Gatherings are irregular, approximately once or twice a year, and attract artists from as far away as Portland and Salem. Future meetings may be scheduled in other Oregon locations. Although not all attendees are members of GNSI, several have offered to help with the GNSI 2005 conference in Eugene.
