Members of the GNSI, Inc. Great Plains Chapter are professional scientific illustrators and educators with an informal goal of education and outreach to generate awareness of our unique regional Great Plains ecosystems. Through our art and educational programs about the incredible environments in Nebraska, we encourage conservation and preservation while creating great art. We strive to make our artwork realistic, detailed and scientifically accurate while at the same time aesthetic and visually pleasing. Anyone interested in scientific illustration is welcome to attend our meetings.

Tom Labedz will host our group for the afternoon. Directions will be provided in September. After an afternoon of sketching we will go the Haymarket to eat and socialize at THE OVEN (Indian Restaurant).
Watercolor Workshop with Sara Taliaferro
Saturday, October 15, we will meet for a day-long watercolor class at Univ. NL East Campus taught by Sara Taliaferro. Sara will teach a combination of "moist brush," controlled techniques as well as more traditional watercolor washes and techniques. The subject will be a flower, such as a rose or peony, of your choosing. You can work from a live specimen or from your own photograph; make certain to include foliage, as we will be doing some exercises in mixing greens.
