These images were created for a mural for new visitor center to educate visitors about the diversity of the local area. The research included ongoing consultation with ANERR naturalists, and two visits to the reserve. The mural is one singular image (which was divided into two images for the purpose of the current exhibit).
The original mural measures 75 feet 9 inches by 10 feet, and encompasses four habitats (Gulf of Mexico, Barrier Island, Apalachicola Bay, and Apalachicola River), and 184 species. The boxes represent aquaria adjacent to the mural, that will house live local specimens. A portion of this mural/exhibit is interactive: what you see is the underlying image. The artwork was created through a combination of watercolor, photography and Photoshop.
The digital file was created and output at 150 dpi and ended up approximately 4GB when flattened.
