Nature's Wonders:
Botanical Paintings in Watercolor by Mindy Lighthipe
The Alamance Art Alliance is honored to exhibit 45 original watercolor paintings by Mindy Lighthipe from July 26th to September 8, 2012. Mindy Lighthipe sees nature through the eyes of a child, and in her paintings she captures a stunning moment of discovery. Sometimes she captures entrancing beauty, at other times her work reflects a whimsical moment, and at other times she expresses a deep concern for nature. She draws from life and uses her photography as a reference to record specific details. She researches her subjects and creates a series of preliminary sketches working out compositional components. Using a microscope she dissects and study plant and insect specimens. The more she looks, the more I sees, and the more she conveys to viewers.
