GNSI Conference January Update

Posted in

Hello GNSI,

An important message from the 2012 conference coordinator.

We are no longer talking submissions for traditional workshops. We are still looking for knowledgeable artists and scientists to present on fascinating subjects this summer conference July 8 – 14th. The deadline for submissions may have passed, but there is still time. If you have a great idea for the conference, email Cat Wilson. catwilson@gmail.com.

Please include at short description of your idea and which of the follow niches you want to participate in:

Technique showcase presenters: Demonstrations of your techniques & tools. The tech showcase is the most casual way to participate.

Presentation Presenters: (~one hour or 50 mins) Speak about a topic that you are passionate about. For example: You could speak about a recent project, techniques & methods for working, history of illustration/profile of an inspirational figure from art or science history, business skills & marketing, research methods, connections between education, science, and art, etc.

Digital Workshop Leaders: (1/2 day, 1 day or even 2) Workshops are where folks can dig in and try out techniques and get lots of detailed instructions. Often our workshops focused on art techniques, but a workshop on science-based techniques could be excellent.

Mini-Workshop Leaders: (1 or 2 hour) A hybrid of the presentation and workshop. These let people get hands-on with materials and technique but in a short period of time. Great for those that would rather not speak for an hour straight.

NEW! Portfolio Reviewers: (1 or 2 hour) We are looking to incorporate portfolio reviews in the next conference. Still in the planning phase it is likely that this would be apart of the core conference. Each review would be twenty minutes so it is only a commitment to review six portfolios.

More information will be posted in the coming months. There might be more potential presentations/workshops than theconference schedule will have room for. So get those ideas in early.

Happy New Year everyone!
