Expect a six-month delay before receiving a certificate of registration. Material sent to the copyright office by mail or private delivery services such as FedEx or UPS is irradiated. CDs are not likely to be damaged, and, although 35 mm slides in the past were damaged, improved methods of irradiation are reducing this likelihood. The only way to avoid irradiation is to have materials hand-delivered by yourself or by courier.
